Goa residence: Arambol, 2011
In July 2011, the Mumbai Crime Branch swooped down on Goa and arrested Sheikh Umaid-ur-Rehman Ishrat Hussain, one of gangster Chota Rajan sharpshooters.
Hussain, was involved in the murder of the driver cum body guard of Dawood’s brother Iqbal Kaskar in Mumbai. He had fled from there and moved to Arambol with his wife to escape the heat. Hussain stayed on rent at one Maria Mascarenhas’ bungalow in Arambol. His landlady, Maria, was neither aware of the Mumbai killing nor the killer. Her fault was that she had not taken any identity or verification from him.
