VALPOI: Shelpe villagers will get water directly from water treatment plant at Dabose in the next two months, with the government taking up the initiative on the new pipeline.

VALPOI: Shelpe villagers will get water directly from water treatment plant at Dabose in the next two months, with the government taking up the initiative on the new pipeline.
Costing around Rs 2 crore, the project will include two water tanks, costing Rs 60 lakh, with the distribution line adding to the cost by Rs 25 lakh.
While one tank will be installed in Brahmakarmali village, the other would be located in the hilly area of Shelpe village.
According to the assistant engineer of water supply department, Valpoi, Eknath Paste, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar had already asked them to submit the proposal for a new water pipeline at Shelpe village. 
“We have completed the estimation of tanks, while the estimation of pipeline would be carried out in the next four days and the file would be subsequently forwarded to the Chief Engineer,” he said adding, the entire process would take two months, till the tender stage.
“We have temporarily solved the water problem of the villagers, with the installation of two water tanks of 5000 litres each in Shelpe village, along with a booster pump, which will provide water for two hours daaily,” he said. 
Paste said they have taken the samples of tap and tank water and the report would be out in the next three days, after which the villagers would be officially allowed to use the tap water.
