Shetgaonkar denies accepting subsidy for ‘Poltodcho Munis’

Shocked at reports that he availed of benefits under Film Finance Scheme

PANJIM: Expressing shock at media reports that he had availed of benefits under Goa Government’s Film Finance Scheme, award-winning filmmaker Laxmikant Shetgaonkar Tuesday said that he had never availed any benefit nor had he accepted any subsidy for his film “Poltodcho Munis”.
“My film was produced by National Film Development Corporation and won International Award at the Toronto Film Festival,” Shetgaonkar said. “I am shocked to read reports appearing in a section of the media which stated that Goa Government had given me Rs 25 lakh under the Film Finance Scheme for the film “Poltodcho Munis” in 2012. This is totally untrue, false and misleading,” the film maker said.
According to Shetgaonkar, the Entertainment Society of Goa under the chairmanship of Digambar Kamat had presented him with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh at a felicitation function organised on October 2, 2009 which was attended by noted film personality Shabana Azmi. But this amount was given to him purely as a reward in recognition of my films consistently wining national and international awards and was not under any scheme or subsidy.
He also pointed out that the Goa Film Finance Scheme has been totally dormant for last four years and not a single film has been given any assistance by the ESG or DIP.
