PANJIM: After facing four-month long suspension in a corruption case, former Additional Collector Sabaji Shetye was on Monday reinstated into the government service. Shetye was caught red handed while accepting bribe by ACB in June.
The senior scale officer is now posted as officer on special duty (OSD) in ESI Hospital Margao with immediate effect.
Shetye is reinstated following recommendation from the Goa Service Board and with the approval of State government.
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested Shetye in a trap laid at his office following a complaint of corruption. He had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,50,000, to be given to him in instalments. He was then caught red handed accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 to issue no objection certificate for explosive storage licenses.
Shetye is currently out on conditional bail.
The former additional North Goa collector had joined government service in 1998 and served as mamlatar and deputy collector before he was promoted as additional collector.
