PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday asked the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) to shift bio-medical waste accumulated at Sonsoddo to the common bio-medical waste treatment facility at Kundaim.

As far as installing firefighting and safety measures at Sonsoddo were concerned, the Margao Municipal Council had already issued the work order to M/s Fyregaard Enterprises. The fire management systems were supposed to be in place by October 7, and the municipality filed a compliance report.
In its compliance report, the Margao Municipal Council has indicated the status and timelines for completion of construction of platforms, sheds, etc, and repair works at Sonsoddo. Some of the ongoing works are expected to be completed by November 30 this year.
The petitioner, who has been making regular site visits at Sonsoddo, stated that there was reduction in the waste which was accumulated there.
