VASCO: NGO Goa First on Monday demanded immediate action on shifting of all public offices from Mormugao municipality building to New Sada Market Complex for the safety and the convenience of the people.
The Revenue Department on the letter of Goa First has requested the South Goa Collector to act on this matter of shifting of public offices to a new space.
In a press release, Goa First chief Parshuram Sonurlekar stated that the NGO is pleased to receive a letter from the Revenue Department directing the South Goa Collector to examine the matter and necessary action may be taken under intimation to the Revenue Department.
“The Goa First had submitted a memorandum to various government departments over the immediate shifting of Mormugao Municipal Council office, Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar, Post and other offices with immediate effect due to the repair and maintenance of Mormugao Municipal Council Building,” he stated.
“The shifting of all these offices will only now benefit the locals as all these offices will be within the same premises, as now due to continuous rains and non completion of work has laid to weakening of walls which are kept exposed,” he mentioned.
As this old structure is a heritage building, Goa First urged the South Goa Collector to conclude the inspection and shift all the office to new Sada Market Complex.
“There have been also complaints of bricks and other materials kept in open due to non covering of premises with metal or any other strong material which was also highlighted earlier and the MMC had written over it to the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) over non safety standards of work,” stated Sonurlekar.
