PANJIM: Prerana Kumar gave up the Science stream to take up Arts in Class XII, and is in the top bracket in the latter stream. Originally from Kerala, the Porvorim resident revealed that she has already begun receiving admission offers from reputed universities in the United Kingdom as she intends to pursue further studies abroad.
“I took up Science in Class XI only to realise later that I am not made for this stream. I switched over to Arts in Class XII,” she said in a tete-a-tete with Herald. The ecstatic student of St Xavier’s High Secondary School achieved 94 per cent in the HSSC results announced on Thursday, but is still not certain whether she tops the Arts stream in the entire State. “As of now, I am said to be the highest in Arts with 94 per cent,” she added.
With good career options, Kumar plans to pursue honours in English literature and either become a professor or a writer. “I was always a bookworm. I love reading books, research documents, magazines, etc,” she said. She had secured 95.5 per cent in the ICSE (Class X) exams.
