MARGAO: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday stated that the shifting of Hospicio to new South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) will be done in phase wise, as the process begins on Tuesday by giving discharge to few and shifting other COVID positive patients taking treatment here.
Speaking to Herald on the sideline of inauguration of modern science laboratory at Mae Dos Pobres School at Nuvem he also informed that soon the people of South Goa will be able to take benefits of medical facilities at district hospital.
A day before the Herald had highlighted the issue with regard to shifting of Hospicio to new SGDH.
“The COVID patients who were taking treatment at SGDH have been shifted to the GMC on Tuesday. Now, the shifting of Hospicio will commence and it will be done in phase wise”, said the chief minister.
As informed by the sources of the district hospital there were nearly six to seven COVID patients as on Tuesday.
“Some have been given discharge, taking into consideration their recovery and few were shifted to GMC”, said sources.
Sources further informed that a few OPDs from Hospicio will be shifted to SGDH in the next few days of time, and it will follow the shifting of other health care facilities.
It may be recalled that it was a long pending demand from the people of South Goa to start the functioning of SGDH in order to get rid of the hardships faced by the patients at Hospicio.
Considering the demands and less number of COVID patients taking treatment at SGDH hospital, the governing body and executive committee of Ragi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) had also deliberated on the issue at the meeting held on Monday.
