PONDA: A spectacular Shigmo parade dazzled thousands of people in Ponda as the streets resonated with the sounds of drums and conches, as mythological figures and the romtamel groups paraded through.
While the coronavirus scare didn’t deter people from watching the floats, a tableau created awareness on the disease and its preventive measures. 21 floats, 12 romtamel troupes, six folk dance troupes and a large number participated in the fancy dress category. Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, former MLA Lavoo Mamledar, Ponda Shigmo Committee President Ashok Naik, Dy Collector Kedar Naik and others also attended the same.
