PANJIM: As the COVID-19 situation in Goa turns worrying, the State government is likely to cancel the Shigmo parades.
Sources said that Tourism Department has moved a proposal to cancel the annual traditional float parades, scheduled to be held at Panjim, Mapusa and Ponda in the coming days. The reason it has cited is rise in COVID-19 cases across the State.
Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar, while refusing to confirm that there is such a proposal, said that the government will take a decision on Friday.
The State has been witnessing a spike in cases with Thursday recording the highest 189 single day spike after a gap of around five months.
