Shiroda Congressmen vow to defeat Shirodkar

GPCC president says Congress candidate for the by-election will be decided by party workers

PONDA: Pained over the betrayal of former MLA Subhash Shirodkar who recently resigned from the Congress to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  Shiroda Congress workers on Wednesday took a vow to defeat of Shirodkar in upcoming by-poll.
The Congress workers took oath at a meeting held at Sungrace Garden, Bethora and expressed shock over the sudden resignation of Shirodkar from the party.
Bethora Sarpanch Sushant Gaonkar, Sunil Sawkar, Manurai Naik and Hemanth Samanth were also present.
GPCC president Girish Chodankar informed that Congress candidate for the by-election will be decided by party workers at a meeting to be held at South Goa District level.
Chodankar said Shirodkar never showed any sign of joining the BJP and  added that he was proud that large number of Congress workers attended the meeting.
Party workers rubbished Shirodkar’s media statement that he had taken Congress workers into confidence. They also refuted Shirodkar’s remarks that he joined BJP for development of the constituency and alleged that he joined the saffron party for his personal gains.
