Shiroda panch gets police custody for murder

PONDA: JMFC on Saturday remanded 55-year-old Shiroda panch Suhas Narayan Naik to seven days police custody in connection with the death of 50-year-old Rajendra Pundalik Naik from Haldai-Shiroda.
The Ponda Police registered a murder case under Section 302 against the accused as the victim succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. 
The accused was produced before the JMFC and was remanded to seven days police custody. The police are yet to recover the weapon used in the attack.
According to PI Mohan Gaude, the victim was found lying unconscious with serious head injuries around 400 metres away from his residence.
Police suspect that he was hit with a hard object on Thursday midnight. His condition deteriorated as he did not get any medical attention till he was noticed in the morning by a local, who had gone for jogging, who informed the police. The victim was shifted to GMC in a critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
PI Gaude said, “The incident occurred over an ownership dispute of sluice gate (manas).”
