PONDA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said that tender of the proposed Shiroda-Rachol Bridge will be opened on June 5.
Parrikar was speaking after inaugurating the renovated lake of Shivnath Temple at Shiroda.
“People from Rachol should not worry as this bridge will be restricted for only cars and two-wheelers. There will be no road widening on Rachol side and the existing road will be allowed for the traffic. No trucks or heavy vehicles will be allowed on the bridge,” assured Parrikar.
“There is no benefit of the bridge to the Rachol people, but people from Shiroda will be benefited, as many people travel by ferry to proceed to Margao for business and jobs,” he added.
On the occasion, Irrigation Minister Dayanand Mandrekar, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik, OBC Chairman Adv Vishwas Satarkar, Shiroda Sarpanch Sandesh Prabudessai, Borim Sarpanch Sanjay Gavde, government officials, members of Shivnath Temple committee and locals were present.
