PANJIM: Stating that the recent political developments revolved just around the Shiroda by-poll issue, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the alliance partner Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party went against the Common Minimum programme of this coalition government.
“We did not split the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, when the coalition government was formed there was a condition laid by our national leader Nitin Gadkari and the regional party had agreed to withdraw from the Shiroda bypoll,” Sawant said addressing a press conference at the Secretariat.
He said despite this, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party went back on its word the very next day.
“We reminded and warned them again and again that this is against the Common Minimum Programme of the alliance but still they did not listen,” he said.
Sawant said the two MLAs split from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party as they feared being expelled from the party like Lavoo Mamledar and came to BJP.
“If the party is bigger than the State or government interests then we thought that we had to take a decision and hence he Sudin was dropped from the Cabinet,” he said.
On Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party announcing to contest the Lok Sabha polls, he said, it would not make any major impact.
“People are strongly behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they know the development carried out by our late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and we know Assembly by-polls and Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
