PANJIM: Shiv Sena (Goa) has said that their MPs will support any amendment moved in Parliament for resumption of mining in Goa, claiming that the party has always been with the people who are affected by the closure of the mining industry.
“Sena would like to reassure the people that all its MPs will firmly stand by any amendment to the existing mining laws, moved by the Central government, to ensure that the industry resumes. We can feel the pain of the people who are jobless and reeling under uncertainties of their livelihood,” Shiv Sena, Goa vice president Rakhi Prabhudessai Naik said on Thursday.
Sena’s local unit has been in constant touch with the party’s Central leadership briefing them about the plight of the mining dependents. “Our Central leadership has assured that they will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the mining industry resumes,” she said.
During the last agitation of the Goa Mining People’s Front, Sena’s leader in Parliament Sanjay Raut had visited the mining dependents and had assured to even stall Parliament on this issue, if required.
