MARGAO: Stating it is shocking to see hundreds of people walking on the bridge along with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant sending social distancing norms for a toss, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has demanded that authorities must book all those who violated the Section 144 imposed in the State.
He said two days back, he had demanded that Chief Minister must Walk the Talk on handling and management of COVID-19. “Shockingly, today entire Goa saw Dr Pramod Sawant walking with hordes of people after the inauguration of a bridge in his home constituency Sankhali. Was he spreading awareness of social distancing?” questioned Kamat.
This is how BJP Government responds to concerns raised by Opposition Party’s MLAs in Goa he further stated.
When Chief Minister himself violates restrictions imposed under Section 144 by his own government, it sends a wrong signal to the public. I appeal to all elected representatives to set examples for others Digambar Kamat said.
He further said that people are gasping for Oxygen. Concerns are raised on the availability of additional oxygen requirements in the days ahead. Beds in hospitals are full and people are made to run to get medicines. Unfortunately, BJP is still in the mode of gala inaugurations and celebrations.
What I and the people of Goa expected was an Action Plan from the Government on handling and management of the Covid pandemic and provide maximum relief to the Goans. Sadly, BJP Government has no sensitivity left to minimise the hardships of people, Kamat said.
