MARGAO: Benaulim NCP MLA Churchill Alemao has proposed a shortened route which will enable the construction of the Benaulim part of the western bypass on stilts.

According to the MLA the details of the same has been sent to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, besides Environment Secretary, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, and Goa State Pollution Control Board.

Speaking to the media persons, Churchill said, “The proposed shortened route is feasible and will enable the construction of the Benaulim part of the western bypass on stilts, as it will also be cost effective and will prevent the much-feared mass water logging and the ecological disaster.”

“No fresh acquisition proceedings are required since the owners of the landholding are the same from the present acquired area to the new shortened route. The NOCs are also available if and when required. The process will not cause any delay,” he stated.

According to Churchill, this will bring great relief and prevent the environment degradation that will be caused by the mass water logging.
