PONDA: Ponda taluka is experiencing pre-monsoon showers over the last four days with thunder and lightning accompanied with strong winds.
People welcomed these showers as they brought much needed respite from the sweltering heat. In some parts people experienced heavy winds.
Though there were reports of trees falling on road and houses and electricity pole uprooting in some places, no major damage was reported. However, the roof of a house at Varad Gaunem Bandora was damaged when a tree uprooted and collapsed on it. The house belongs to Janaki Saju Naik. Ponda fire personnel cleared the the fallen tree promptly.
