PANJIM: With Union AYUSH Minister (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik promoting alternative Indian medicine in a big way, the ministry has proposed four new projects for Goa funded by the ministry.
The ministry has proposed a Ayush Hospital in each district – Mapusa in North Goa and Macazana in South Goa, an All India Research Centre cum hospital for Ayurveda (100 bedded hospital) at Chimbel and National Institute for Naturopathy and Hospital at Dhargal.
Speaking to media persons, Naik said that the Research Centre for Ayurveda and National Institute for Naturopathy would be fully funded by the Ministry, provided the States makes the land available. “The Ayush district hospitals would be funded under AYUSH Mission with State and Centre sharing,” he said.
The minister also said that the State will shortly have an AYUSH directorate, a wing independent of the directorate of Health Services.
The AYUSH ministry was created in November 2014 with the intention to educate and popularize ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy.
“Financial provision has been made for setting up the directorate. The process of setting up the directorate has already started with posts being advertised,” he said.
The minister also announced to provide financial support of up to Rs 6 lakh to villages under AYUSH Mission for promotion of ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy.
He also said that the Quality Council of India is entrusted with the task of training yoga teachers, trainees and experts, who could be deployed in various educational institutions.
