Union Minister Shripad Naik, undergoing treatment for COVID-19 underwent plasma therapy on Monday.
According to a statement, he had tested positive for the virus on August 12 and was shifted to Manipal Hospital for treatment on August 13, after he developed symptoms.
“The first dose of convalescent plasma has also been administered to him today (Monday), under the supervision of the Transfusion Medicine Specialist from AIIMS Delhi who recently joined Goa team,” the statement says.
The minister is responding well to the plasma therapy and being treated by an expert team of doctors from Goa Medical College and Manipal Hospital.
“His treatment is being monitored in close coordination with AIIMS, Delhi. Also a team of specialists from AIIMS, Delhi including HoD, Anesthesiology and HoD, Pulmonary Medicine is arriving in Goa tomorrow,” it added.
