PANJIM: Union Ministry for AYUSH could use Baba Ramdev’s reported cure for HIV/AIDS if it is clinically cleared, Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH Shripad Naik said on Tuesday.
“We have asked him for details about how he has done it and if it is clinically cleared then we will go ahead and use it,” Naik said, when asked if the ministry had examined claims made by Ramdev in the past about allegedly possessing a cure for HIV/AIDS.
Meanwhile, the State will soon have the third line treatment facility for the people living with HIV (PLHIV) after Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) agreed to fund the project as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
“Very soon we will be able to start third line Antiretroviral therapy (ART) drugs in the State. This will save patients from travelling to places like Mumbai,” Dr Naresh Goel, Deputy Director, National AIDS Control Society, said.
The State, which has 1070 people living with HIV, has treatment up to second line ART, which forces the PLHIV to travel to other States.
