MARGAO: Taking serious note of the dumping of chicken and food waste on either side of the Arlem-Nuvem Eastern Bypass, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has initiated plans to catch the culprits in the act, while the Village Panchayat of Raia will be writing to the National Highway Authorities to clear out the dense shrubbery that has taken over the roadside
Last week, Herald highlighted the dumping of rotting chicken waste that has raised a stink on the stretch, despite the presence of a Segregated Waste Collection Station on the same road.
MLA Reginaldo told Herald, “Yes, it needs to be resolved at the earliest. I got some leads about the culprits.” Judas Quadros, Sarpanch, Raia, said “The bushes have to be cleared out, so both sides of the bypass are clean and properly visible. The dumpers take advantage of the undergrowth on the road.”
