Sightseeing trip ends in tragedy

A sightseeing trip in the State ended in tragedy when a man from Bangalore was fatally knocked down by a motorcycle near Angels Resort at Porovoim at around 9.30 pm on Friday.
According to Porvorim police, a group of people from Bangalore had arrived in the State by a bus on sightseeing trip. The bus then stopped near Angels Resort as the passengers wanted to make some purchases.
As H S Subbarao (35) was crossing the road to go to a shop, a motorcycle (GA-07-D-4905) proceeding from Porvorim to Calangute knocked him down.
Subbarao suffered grievous head injuries and was shifted to the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, where he passed away later at night.
Porvorim Police has registered an offence against the motorcycle rider Hameed Salim on charges of rash and negligent driving under Section 304 A and 279 of Indian Penal code. PSI Sagun Sawant is investigating the case.
