MARGAO: Several villagers from the Benaulim constituency took part in the signature campaign to protest against the bad road conditions.
Residents of seven villages in the constituency gathered and took signatures from those seeking improvement in the condition of roads which have proved to be a nightmare for motorists.
Road accidents have claimed two lives and have left many injured recently.
The villagers informed that accidents occur everyday. People complain of back pain and damage to their vehicles while commuting along these roads.
“The villagers have taken a strong objection to the shoddy road works,” said Judith Almeida.
The villagers have demanded that the PWD, sewerage corporation, RTO, local MLA and Panchayat, who are responsible for the shoddy road work to find a solution within 8 days, failing which the villagers have threatened to file FIRS against these authorities.
“We may have to resort to a rasta roko if the authorities fail to provide a solution soon,” a Carmona resident said.
