PANJIM: Although some parents welcomed the starting of schools on Monday, others are still apprehensive about it as COVID pandemic has not fully gone yet. So when parents of students of one school, in Vasco, were asked to sign consent, which is a virtual undertaking that ‘school management is not responsible if anything happens to students in school,’ they were agitated.

One parent said that on the previous day a consent note was sent to them for their signature, which was to be submitted to the school on Monday. “They said neither the govt nor would the school or the teachers take the responsibility of anything happening to students. Parents have to send your children to the school at your own risk,” the parent stated.

“When Covid pandemic is not over, how can I send my child to school? When I sent my child without giving the consent, the teachers questioned me why I have sent my child to school,” she said.

“They will be mixing around and eating together. If they fall sick, who will be responsible?” asked the parents.

Another parent said that a message had been sent to parents to give an undertaking that parents are sending the students to school at their own risk. “I asked the teacher, are you or the govt giving us anything in writing? They should give us in writing that they will take care of our kids. CM Pramod Sawant is not telling us ‘Bhivpachi garaz nam.’ Who will be responsible if anything happens to our children? he questioned.
