PANJIM: The signing of lease agreement between the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and tenants in the new municipal market is further delayed as the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has raised queries, seeking details about the agreement from the Corporation.
The CCP had written to the DMA seeking its approval to execute the lease agreement with market tenants (Phase l and Phase ll), however, the department has asked the CCP to first provide the details of pending dues that needs to be recovered from market tenants and the terms and conditions of the proposed lease agreement, a senior official said.
The official said that approximately Rs 15 crore is the outstanding amount that needs to be recovered from the tenants from the day they were shifted in the new municipal market.
The CCP had earlier decided to sign leave and licence agreement with the tenants, who refused and instead showed their willingness to sign lease agreement. The law department had also vetted the leave and licence agreement.
In April his year, the CCP had resolved to convert leave and license to lease agreement and thereafter started the process for the same. There are as many as 460 traders in the new municipal market, of which 160 are found registered in the list of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), at the time of constructing the new market.
