VASCO: Setting an example of fostering communal harmony, the Sikh community served mahaprasad to hundreds of devotees through a Langar at Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara at Mangor Hill, Vasco, as part of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
A group of Muslims with the support of Hindus residing in Mangor Hill started Siddhivinayak Sarvajanik Ganeshotav celebrations about 18 years ago and today all communities residing in Mangor are active members of the celebration committee.
Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara served food such as rice, dal, roti, sabji and kheer prepared in the Gurudwara kitchen and served to devotees, who were requested to wear a head scarf prior to entering the Gurudwara.
Jagwant Singh Bhatti of Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara said that Siddhivinayak Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav committee members approached them and we gladly got associated with the Ganesh Chaturthi festival because Gurudwara members were more than happy to extend their support to the festival.
“We respect every religion and we are always there whenever anyone needs us. We were also active in helping people during the Covid pandemic without any religious discrimination as our main aim is to reach out to the people,” Bhatti said.
