PANJIM: In a major submission, social activist and complainant Advocate Aires Rodrigues on Monday produced a lease agreement signed between the owners of controversial restaurant ‘Silly Souls Bar and Café’ at Assagao and the company that is allegedly linked to the husband of the Union Minister Smriti Irani.
During the hearing before the Excise Commissioner on Monday, Rodrigues informed that property under Survey Number 236/22 of Assagao where Silly Souls Bar and Café was stated to be located was leased to Eightall Food and Beverages LLP by Anthony D’Gama through his son with effect from January 1, 2021, for a period of 10 years at a monthly rent of Rs 50,000.
Eightall Food and Beverages LLP is allegedly linked to Zubin Irani, husband of Smriti Irani. Rodrigues placed the agreement before investigating authority through an affidavit.
The Excise Commissioner has posted the case to October 13, for final arguments on the matter.
Speaking to mediapersons post hearing, Advocate Benedict Nazareth, representing D’Gama family, said that the agreement of lease never culminated into a lease deed. He said no arguments were done before the authority on Monday as the matter was fixed for the complainant (Rodrigues) to file his reply.
