Simplify Deed of Succession, marriage registration process: Sanguem locals

SANGUEM: Sanguem locals on Tuesday complained over the Sanguem Sub Registrar Office’s move seeking publication of notice for execution of Deed of Succession in two local newspapers in addition to publication of notice in the Official Gazette.

The locals said that elsewhere in the State including the Office of Sub Registrar Salcete, the notice is published in one local newspaper besides publishing the same in the Official Gazette.

The affected locals said that while it is sound to get the notice published in one local newspaper and Official Gazette, making it compulsory to publish in two local newspapers puts additional monetary burden on the applicants for no valid reasons.

“Moreover, the policy of getting the notice published in two local newspapers is not uniformly followed at all the offices”, they said.

The locals urged the government to issue proper directives to the Sub Registrars in the State and guide them on the publication policy so that the policy could be uniformly followed and not at the whims and fancies of different Sub Registrars.

Similarly, the locals have also appealed to frame time limit for reverting of marriage registration applications by the Office of the Civil Registrar.

The locals complained that in the absence of any framed time limit, the offices are taking their own sweet time to revert the application.
