PANJIM/VASCO: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Ahir, said that China and Pakistan have sin in their hearts due to which they are averse towards working for peace with India.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has managed to establish good relations with all our neighbours. The relations are still strained with Pakistan and China. This is because they have sin in their heart towards India,” Ahir told media persons in Panjim on Monday.
He said the Prime Minister did strive to have a good relationship with Pakistan but it did not happen. “Union government cannot be blamed (for strained relationships) when these countries (Pak and China) have ill-feelings towards India,” Ahir added.
He also said the Union government has kept a special watch on Goa’s security. “We are looking after security of all the States. Goa is a special attraction for people across the world and also for us. The Centre is fully responsible about looking after the security of this state,” he said.
He said Modi is inspired by Goa. “The Union Home ministry will not take any chance as far as security of Goa is concerned,” he said.
Speaking on the demand of Special Status to Goa, Ahir said there are several other states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar which are raising similar demands. “This demand of special status has to be discussed at the meeting of chief ministers. This is not something the Union government can make an announcement on its own,” he stated.
Earlier in Vasco, Ahir said turbulence in Kashmir valley has increased in the last month. “I want to clarify that there was a time when over 5000 terrorists were in Kashmir and now this has been reduced to 100 or 200 terrorists. Due to this Pakistan is frustrated, and is feeling weak and has been reacting with infiltration bids using young kids,” Ahir said.
He added, “India has all capabilities to bring situation under control in Kashmir. Also some groups of people used to level charges that our jawans have been killing innocent people in Kashmir which is false as our jawans never kill any innocents deliberately, they fire for the safety and security of the nation.”
He said that Pakistan has no strength to stand in front of India, but India wants peace. “We have defeated Pakistan on three occasions in past, and we are not thinking of war as we want to move towards development, but at the same time we need to take steps in safeguarding the country’s security,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, as part of the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ campaign in Vasco, Ahir felicitated freedom fighters from Vasco including Sairu B Bhagat, Manohar Datta Naik, Srikant Dhargalkar, Dashrath Sawant and Keshav Sawant.
