SIO against order banning purdah during exams

PANJIM: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Goa has raised objections to the recent notification by the Central Board of Secondary Education barring student from wearing purdah’s or head scarves while answering the All India Pre Medical Test saying it would “infringe the rights of students guaranteed under Article 25 of the Constitution.”

The organisation in a press note said that the board should come up with effective mechanism to troubleshoot the problems of malpractices and other irregularities to make the process hassle free. They said that by demanding that students abstain from wearing a certain form of clothing the Board’s command may damage cultural and religious ethos of Indian traditions.
SIO president said that the students should answer exams in true spirit and malpractices should be totally stopped.
