Margao: The Sirlim-Dramapur gram sabha on Sunday passed works proposed by the panchayat under the 14th Finance Commission.
The short gram sabha saw the attendance of five panch members. With the deadline for submitting proposals under the Finance Commission in mid-February, the gram sabha proposed works as per the budget allocation. These covered maintenance works like covering drainages and developing open spaces.
Incidentally, the gram sabha coincided with the celebration of First Holy Communion at the church, due to which many members could not attend the meeting. The attendees questioned why this date had been selected for the meeting and were told that it was due to the Finance Commission deadline.
Other major issues, like the opposition to the Investment Promotion Board (IPB), which could not be taken up, will be discussed at the next gram sabha later this month.
