PANJIM: Even as the anticipatory bail application moved by former chief minister Digambar Kamat will be heard on Monday, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch has summoned Kamat for interrogation on Tuesday (November 21).
Following the twist in the ongoing investigating of mining scam, Kamat filed an application for anticipatory bail on Saturday before the Special Court in Panjim, as Goa’s former Principal Mines Secretary Rajiv Yaduvanshi has turned approver of the State.
Yeduvanshi is being interrogated in the Prafull Hede’s illegal mining lease renewal case in which Kamat and other Mines officers are also allegedly linked. The court has issued notice to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch returnable on Tuesday. The hearing is also scheduled on Tuesday morning.
Kamat filed the application for anticipatory bail a day after SIT recorded the statement of Yaduvanshi on Friday before the magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
It is learnt that Yaduvanshi has reportedly named Kamat for having pressurised him to take decisions that was not in the interest of the State.
Yaduvanshi is being quizzed in 40 cases of illegal condonation and other illegal mining that occurred during his tenure between 2006 and 2011. Kamat, who is the longest serving mines minister (12 years), is being probed in nearly all the mining cases registered by SIT and he is summoned for questioning on Nov 21.
