PANJIM: H L Naturmal mining company owner, Harish Melwani, was grilled by SIT – Mining on Friday for nearly two and half hours in connection with his role in the alleged illegal mining and trading in unaccounted iron ore and misuse of royalty challans.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Karthik Kashyap said they need more time for the interrogation and Melwani will be summoned again in the coming week.
SIT officials said that after further interrogation and corroborating with collected specific material evidence and statements of witnesses SIT is likely to move for his arrest.
Melwani had applied for anticipatory bail and SIT had assured the Court that in the event of forming an opinion on the arrest, SIT would give Melwani 48 hours notice.
