SIT is probing 16-odd cases related to illegal mining, where the Director of Mines Prasanna Acharya is the complainant.
Speaking at a symposium on mining on Friday evening, Alvares said though he is a crucial informant on illegal mining, SIT has failed to question or seek information from him.
“SIT is nothing but a ‘sit’ appointed by government to do what they want. I have never been invited by SIT even though I have all the documents to prove every illegality and those involved in it. This itself shows the enthusiasm of SIT towards the case,” Alvares said.
