PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is preparing a water-tight case against former chief minister Digambar Kamat’s anticipatory bail plea, that comes up for hearing on Tuesday.
Kamat, who is being investigated in illegal mining case, was on April 24 granted ex-parte ad-interim bail by the District and Sessions Court.  “His interrogation is necessary as the offenses occurred during his tenure as the mines minister. This is inclusive of the five years term as chief minister. The paperwork is almost done to submit before the judge to oppose his bail application,” said a senior SIT official.
Kamat was questioned for nearly two and half hours soon after he was granted interim bail in one of the biggest and voluminous cases being investigated by the SIT. He has skipped the first summons issued to him over a week ago, citing that he was not in the State.
SIT has already questioned two former mines and geology directors Arvind Lolienkar and J B Bhingui in the case number 15/2013 pertaining to Justice M B Shah Commission’s report pointing at the scam from 2005-2011. Another former mines official A P D’Souza too moved the court seeking anticipatory bail, hearing of which is also scheduled on Tuesday.
