SIT makes fifth arrest in land grabbing

PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Goa Police on Thursday arrested Altaf C A, a 31-year-old native from Kerala for allegedly identifying the land and furnishing the information to Mohammad Sohail Safi, also one of the main accused who was arrested in connection with the Assagao illegal land grabbing case.

Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Nidhin Valsan informed that the accused used to identify the land and approach the other party with the proposal of land transfer/selling or used to furnish the information to Sohail Safi. SP Valsan further informed that the accused has been arrested from his native place and is currently in the custody of SIT.

“This is the fifth case wherein SIT has arrested one more person for illegal land grabbing/ transfer,” SP Valsan said adding, “Our team is interrogating into the matter. Further formalities will be done as per the law.”
