PANJIM: Days after the last arrest of one Assembly candidate Estevam D’Souza, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Sunil Kumar in the alleged land grabbing case.
“Upon a complaint filed by Jagdeep Bansal of Patto, Panjim, that accused namely Sunil Kumar and his accomplices forged documents showing they are lawful owners of property surveyed under number 33/1 of Village Assagao and further fraudulently produced forged documents as genuine before the authorities,” SP (SIT) Nidhin Valsan said.
Based on the submissions, the accused had succeeded in transferring ownership rights in Kumar’s name. The complainant realised he was cheated.
The complainant approached the SIT with the complaint, which is registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused, a resident of Tisk-Usgao, Ponda was arrested on Monday. Sunil Kumar is the seventh accused arrested by the SIT, who are investigating the alleged land grabbing cases.
