Acting upon the complaint registered by Kundan Kerkar, Calangute Panchayat conducted a site inspection on Friday. The complaint outlined several concerns, including the operation of an unauthorized spa and wellness centre, without the necessary permissions from competent authorities. Additionally, the complaint highlighted disturbances caused by the spa’s late-night operations, affecting the peace of the area.
Furthermore, it was alleged that the building housing the spa was constructed illegally and situated within a Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), thus violating CRZ norms.
During the inspection, authorities assessed the situation on the ground, examining the property in question and gathering relevant evidence to substantiate the claims made in the complaint.
Complainant Kundan Kerkar said that, there are many illegalities going on in this area under the shelter of salon and spa. We are suspicious that this premisses run a dance bar or prostitution. He further added on saying that we have received many complaints from locals saying “girls are being brought here and only male tourist visit this place in large numbers”.
Panchayat has issued 35 fresh licenses to saloon and spa, despite of having a resolution of not granting any new license, informed Kerkar. he further said that the findings of the site inspection will be thoroughly reviewed by the appropriate authorities to determine the necessary course of action. Strict action should be taken to address the illegal activities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
