Six faint at Mayem fugdi competition

The traditional fugdi competition organised by a higher secondary school at Mayem took an unexpected turn, when six students fainted and had to be admitted to the hospital.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Thursday at about 7.30 pm when a higher secondary school organised a fugdi competition in the school for girls.
A huge crowd had gathered in the premises to watch the competition, in which several groups of girls participated.
About six girls from one group fainted, triggering off commotion in the area.
Panic stricken parents and villagers tried several means to revive the girls. Some of them came to senses, while some remained unconscious. The villagers later shifted the six girls to the hospital and after preliminary treatment, they were discharged.
Villagers and family members had gathered at PHC Bicholim and the police was also called to maintain law and order.
However, the girls and family members were embarrassed over the incident and tried to avoid the police. They later requested the police not to register any case in the matter. Bicholim Police later registered the matter as an accident
