MARGAO: With the election code of conduct still in force, the six gram sabhas scheduled on Sunday will be truncated ones as no developmental works can be taken up for discussion.
In fact five of the gram sabhas have only a two point agenda namely reading and confirming minutes of the previous gram sabha and presenting and approving the budget for the financial year 2019-20. Some of the panchayat secretaries in fact said the gram sabhas are being held only to approve the budget.
At Betalbatim the agenda was revised following directions from the BDO. The gram sabha was supposed to discuss tax revision but following a direction from the BDO the tax revision would be taken up at the next gram sabha and on Sunday only the budget would be approved.
In fact, the panchayats are not even going to present the compliance report or action taken report after reading the minutes of the last gram sabha.
Raia, Dramapur Sirlim, Aquem Baixo and Betalbatim are not going to take up the correspondence received from people for discussion while at Camurlim one issue and at Colva a few suggestions including a discussion on the sewerage system will be taken up.
