MAPUSA: A six-year-old boy was crushed to death under the wheels of a truck, at Sodiem, Siolim on Monday.
The incident occurred at around 3.15 pm when the little boy was fast asleep in an open area in the property belonging to Antonio Fernandes at Gaunsavaddo, Siolim, when the driver reversed his truck in a negligent manner causing severe injuries to the child.
Police stated that Sudesh Narayan Virnodkar (50), the driver of the truck bearing registration No. GA-03-AH-1033, resident of Maina, Sodiem-Siolim drove his vehicle in the reverse, without ensuring proper care and ran over the victim Sanadi Viresh Lamani, a native of Koppal, Karnataka, causing grievious injuries.
The victim was immediately shifted to Siolim Primary Health Centre (PHC) where he succumbed to injuries.
Police have registered an offence under Section 279, 304-A of the Indian Penal Code.
