VASCO: The rise in number of accidents causing deaths in Goa seems to be unstoppable. Every other day there are accident- related deaths and precious lives are lost. On Thursday morning, a six-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a speeding car at Zuarinagar.
The accident occurred when the victim Kundan Rathod, a resident of Zorint, Zuarinagar, was crossing the road when the speeding vehicle knocked him down near BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
Rathod was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital, Chicalim, where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead.
The Verna Police later conducted the panchanama and registered a case against the car driver Kapil Betgiri (42) for driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and causing death.
PSI Utkrant Desai is conducting investigation under the guidance of Verna PI Diago Gracias and overall guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
Meanwhile, Rathod’s death has raised questions as to why children of his age are left unattended or allowed to move on the busy roads across the State, which have turned into death traps.
The police have also appealed to the people to take care of their wards to avoid such tragedies in future.
