Siya Goyal took Rs 1 crore from fiancé for wedding shopping, gave it to lover, say police

Fresh details have emerged in the murder investigation of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police alleging that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, took around Rs 1 crore from him under the pretext of wedding shopping before transferring the money to her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.

According to investigators, Agarwal had handed over the money for preparations related to their upcoming wedding. However, police claim Goyal instead gave the entire amount to Chaudhary to help him establish his career and business. Officials allege the couple had planned to marry each other only after three years, believing the delay would reduce suspicion following Agarwal’s death.

Police have arrested Goyal and Chaudhary for allegedly conspiring to murder the 26-year-old by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators claim the murder was carefully planned, with Goyal assigned a specific role during the execution.

As per the investigation, Goyal was instructed to sit down on the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces, which served as a signal for Chaudhary to push Agarwal into the gorge. Police believe the signal was deliberately chosen so Goyal would remain out of reach if the victim attempted to grab her while falling.

Investigators have also revealed that Chaudhary travelled nearly 90 kilometres to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of a car to avoid detection at toll plazas. The scooter has since been seized.

Call detail records have further revealed that Goyal allegedly spoke to Chaudhary around 34 minutes before the incident. Police suspect the conversation was the final confirmation before the alleged murder.

Investigators also claim the duo had made an unsuccessful attempt to kill Agarwal on June 14. According to police sources, the victim survived after grabbing a bush, while Goyal allegedly claimed the fall was accidental after citing the presence of a snake.
