GOACAN conducts awareness drive amidst worrying trend of fatal accidents in the State

GOACAN organised a Road Safety Awareness Action at the Margao flyover junction to highlight various issues of road safety and traffic management.

The activity was organised as part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2024, the two-hour-long awareness action had the participation of GOACAN volunteers who were armed with placards which had road safety messages for drivers, riders and pedestrians.

“Slow down, Observe Speed limits, Save lives, Wear Seat belts for your Safety, Use only ISI-marked Helmets, Respect the rights of Pedestrians at Zebra Crossings were some of the messages that the volunteers highlighted during the awareness action.
The Road Safety Awareness Action which was led by GOACAN Co-ordinator Roland Martins had the participation of Consumer Forum volunteers from Navelim, Velim, Davorlim, Cuncolim, Raia & Majorda. The Awareness Action was assisted by J. Borges, Assistant Sub-Inspector Traffic Cell Margao and Charles Faria AMVI Directorate of Transport (Enforcement) South along with their staff.
Meanwhile, GOACAN has decided to mobilise the Road Safety & Traffic Management Committee of the Village Panchayats & Municipal Councils of South Goa District to convene their meetings, take stock of the Road Accident scenario and submit their recommendations to the South Goa District Road Safety Committee chaired by Asvin Chandru A, IAS, the South Goa District Collector by 31st March 2024.
