Vasco: Partial work on the new Zuari parallel bridge work recommenced last week. While the work of launching the segments has started, the concrete related work is moving at a slow pace, due to limited supply.
Due to the forthcoming monsoon season, bridge work will most likely slow down further,
Speaking to HERALD, Atul Joshi, Deputy Director of Dilip Buildcon Pvt Ltd, stated that they resumed the work partially but not in a full-fledged manner.
When asked about the recent problems with regards to the availability of the material required for the construction work, Joshi informed that some material has started to come in but it’s not all of it and that there are still a lot of restrictions.
He confirmed that the equipment from China has not come and that work around that will be kept pending. He also stated that materials that were supposed to come from Indore, Pune and Mumbai are not coming as well due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, ever since the lockdown relaxation was announced, there has been a considerable increase in traffic. It is to be noted that there were no reports of traffic jams and that traffic police and local police have managed to regulate the traffic movement efficiently; although, there is checking of vehicles done at the various strategic spots along the highway, which at times forms a short queue.
Govt employees, healthcare staff and personnel of companies that have resumed have been traveling.
