Transport department expects that teething problems encountered by NIC’s Sarathi software for issuing licences will be sorted out by next week.
Transport director Arun Desai said that all the problems are being fixed and issues will be resolved next week.
However, admitting that problems has cropped up affecting issuing of smart card based licences, Desai said that at the initial stage it is quite possible to have problems as the system is new.
“This is an Orissa state based model. As the software Sarathi is in its initial stage people will suffer problems as it will take some time to stabilize,” Desai said.
He assured that the system will smoothen by next week.
The NIC officials and transport department, which met thrice this week to overcome the hiccups, have encountered various measures to smoothen the system.
“The classification of vehicles has been the basic problem in issuing smart cards as each vehicle has its own criteria’s. The system took time to stabilize with this concept,” he explained.
