PANJIM: All the contractors carrying out Smart City works in the capital city have been directed to strictly adhere to the deadlines and to complete the ongoing works on or before May 31 this year.
The timelines given to the contractors were reviewed during a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary P K Goel, who is also the Chairman of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sanjit Rodrigues.
It is learnt that some of the ongoing works were delayed due to Carnival floats parade and the annual Mala zatra and there is every likelihood that the works may be again delayed due to oncoming Shigmo festival.
Yet Rodrigues said that the all the Smart City works are on track and would be completed by May 31.
In July last year, some contractors were issued show cause notices for delaying the works of Smart City Mission in the capital city.
Meanwhile, a loaded heavy truck stuck as road caved in at Caranzalem on Tuesday. The rear wheel of the loaded truck was stuck inside the hole due to caving in of the road. On Monday, a soft drinks delivery vehicle got stuck in a sewerage pit at Azad Maidan, Panjim.
Since last one year, as many as 12 vehicles got stuck due to roads caving in across Panjim while, two persons died after falling into pits.
