PANJIM: The State government has decided that all developmental works undertaken by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) be referred to the District Level Road Digging Coordination Committee.
“The Government has decided that all the developmental works undertaken by the IPSCDL in which coordination between various Government Departments is required keeping in the mind public safety and convenience, has to be referred to the District Level Road Digging Co-ordination Committee. The District Level Road Digging Coordination Committee is required to decide on IPSCDL proposals in not more than 7 days,” the notification issued by Revenue Department states.
The department has also emphasised that if the proposals of IPSCDL are not disposed by the Committee within the specified period, the sanction of Committee shall be deemed to have been granted.
The IPSCDL has taken up several projects in a bid to elevate the capital into a Smart City but certain things have gone wrong. The continuous digging of roads by different agencies including the IPSCDL inconvenienced the residents as well as commuters prompting district collectorate’s intervention after a complaint from the civic society groups.
Meanwhile, the agency has taken up projects like installation of street lights and CCTV cameras besides many more. The development of Dona Paula jetty and a joint project with GTDC on the proposed terminal building of Santa Monica jetty have also been taken up.
