SMC formed for animal birth control

PANJIM: As per directions from the Supreme Court, the Department of Urban Development (Municipal Administration) has constituted a State Monitoring Committee (SMC) regarding Animal Birth Control (Dogs).

Amongst the many functions, the main two are to ensure the setting up of Animal Birth Control (ABC) Monitoring Committees at the local authority levels as required by the ABC (Dogs) Rules, 2001; and to develop a comprehensive district wise plan (including but not limited to infrastructure, budget, etc), for dog population management in urban and rural areas throughout the State.
